This report, prepared for the Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ), provides a comprehensive mapping of renewable energy across Sub-Saharan Africa. It examines the current state of electricity systems, energy consumption, generation, transmission, investment, and the potential for localisation and decent job creation as the continent navigates its energy transition.
The paper is part of a broader project titled "A Just Energy Transition: Localisation, Decent Work, SMMEs and Sustainable Livelihoods," which investigates the role that economic development around renewable energy technologies can play in creating a more sustainable and just economy in Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa.
