The Energy Action Plan (EAP) is South Africa's strategy to end load shedding and achieve long-term energy security. Announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa in July 2022, the plan sets out a comprehensive package of actions to restore Eskom's performance and rapidly expand electricity generation capacity. Its primary objective is to close the electricity supply gap by accelerating the addition of new generation capacity while strengthening the reliability and resilience of the country's energy system.
