Energy Action Plan

The Energy Action Plan (EAP) is South Africa's strategic roadmap, launched in July 2022, to resolve the electricity supply crisis, end load shedding, and secure long-term energy stability. Managed by the National Energy Crisis Committee (NECOM), the plan focuses on optimising existing infrastructure while aggressively expanding new generation capacity through a diverse mix of energy sources. As of March 2024, the EAP has demonstrated significant momentum, with key interventions successfully improving generation performance and fostering a more competitive electricity sector.
