Renewable energy jobs in a Just Energy Transition in SA

This reflection paper explores the complex relationship between renewable energy (RE) development and a just energy transition (JET) in South Africa. Based on a 2017 roundtable discussion with various stakeholders, the guide examines the necessity of moving toward a sustainable, low-carbon energy system while ensuring that the shift is fair for workers currently reliant on legacy fossil fuel industries.
